Broke a balljoint while driving yesterday.
And boy did that make my sphincter tone increase!!!!!!!!! I hear this usually happens at low speed. I was driving about 20 mph and heard this scratching noise, then boom on the left front. Immediately slowed down, nursed the car into a parking lot. Called for a tow. My car is dropped, but it immediately was 2" lower on the front left, see picture.....
After I got it on the lift at my friend's shop, I found the balljoint pulled right out of the lower control arm! Bent my brake's dust shield. I was driving for a half block with the fender resting on the tire!
Anyone else had this level of excitement in an sc? Make sure your balljoints are good, I was lucky to have not totaled my car.

Had the same experience. I was on my way home to actually check on it, I was a few blocks away when it happened. Coming from a stoplight, going 20mph, then boom heard a loud cracking sound, immediately pulled over to the shoulder, and as soon as I stopped the driverside went 4in lower. And I was at a bridge over a freeway. Good thing it was noon and the bridge wasn't that busy.
Mine has just over 200K miles, original LCA's
KingPhilip, how many miles did yours have on it when yours broke?
Thankfully I had a set of used LCAs with good balljoints waiting to replace mine.

Left a bunch of the surrounding rubber where it fell when my car broke, Think the control arm and joint are still at my friend's shop.
Someone I knew said there was a way to rebuild these balljoints, What a PITA to swap the metal cylinder in the LCA bushings!!!!

Put smaller tires 235/40/18's up front
It has 245/40/18 in back
Put on the used LCA's I had and got an alignment.
This car handles amazing now, I had no idea how much the negative camber I had was negatively affecting the car's handling.
I can only imagine how bad all the extremely cambered slammed cars handle.
