Default Possible Issues

Alright, so i was driving today and i noticed some heat coming from the middle console of the car, specifically where the shifter is. I tried feeling around it and when i touched the metal part of the E-brake (under the boot) it was really hot, but not so hot that it was painful, but still pretty hot. Im wondering if this is considered normal for our cars. The car itself drives just fine, haven't had any issues with it what so ever so far (knock on wood). Please let me know if i should be doing anything about the heat.

Also on a less important matter. Should there be any kind of plastic that is covering all the wiring above the pedals. I couldn't find any pictures of that area so if someone could post some pics i would appreciate it

Thanks!

To put it nicely, there are over 265 threads about heat on the shifter so I can't empathize with you on this because it is such an easy search term.

All in the tunnel and due to the area where the trans comes through the tunnel into the cabin via the shifter linkage.
