Yeah, I told the mechanic today that I could have had a new 60" plasma TV on my wall...

and instead he gets a new TV.

He was like "no man, bring it back, blah blah blah". I was like sorry man, you screwed me way too much last year and now another $700+ yesterday. Car is getting towed to Alexandria Lexus in the next few days.

Ok so who told you it needs an Engine now? What is the car going to lexus for? i thought it was already at lexus?
Sorry but i am a little confuse... Anybody did a compression test? How did they come to the conclusion that you need an engine now?
You need to ask questions my friend , You must ask them questions or it's gonna be the samething all over again.

I think he was saying that "if" he hears it needs a new engine, it would be a great excuse to crush the car and be done with it...I don't think he got a diagnosis of dead engine yet...

Same thing happened to me few yrs ago when i owned 95 5spd...it shut off in the middle of driving, so i got it towed back home..It would crank but fail to start, after checking stuff under the hood and didn't find anything wrong

It was Fuel pump ECU that went bad...So please check the ECU and Fuel pump before dumping the car, especially if you have already replaced so many parts and you know what's good in the car and what's not.

My father the Saturday morning "mechanic" wants to change the fuel pump and 12v mod and see what happens. He's willing to pay for it so whatever.

I'm in no rush since I got a decent family rental. The car can sit for a while until I can save enough money for the tow, official Lexus diagnosis, and preparation for a large bill. Basically I should probably save another $500-1000 before attempting to bring this to Lexus. So, maybe in March or April I'll have them take a look.

No you need another mechanic and also need to start reading and working on your car. These guys you have taken it to clearly have no idea of what is going on. It's like they're just guessing and you're letting them. Why would a clutch fix this issue "smh". On most cars the TPS, fuel pump controller or MAF causes this issue.

I really feel bad for this car for having such terrible people working on it. But hey, at least it has new parts!

Did you not read? The car is being towed to Lexus for them to diagnose when I can save enough money for the next big bill. If Lexus gets it wrong then I'm a little stumped on what to do next.

The clutch way way off, and I dont even know why did you even go for that. I know you're frustrated with the dumb *** mechanic who got you for $$, at least you got a new clutch out of it.
Let us know how it goes, I want to know myself what is actually causing this issue.
Sorry about your car man

Just giving you guys heads up on what's going on. I called Lexus yesterday to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately I have to save some money for the tow, Lexus diagnosis, then the tow back to my house. It will probably run me about $350-400 just to find out what's wrong since the Lexus dealer is about 45+ minutes from where the car is currently located. Hopefully I can land a few side jobs/gigs and come up with the cash a little faster. After that I'll hopefully post what's wrong and find a DIY or something. I'll keep everyone posted.

When it rains it pours. Having a 20 year old car and not working on it yourself don't go hand in hand. Jus sayin'. Hopefully you get it moving without spending your life savings.
