I ve searched but the keywords are so spammed with after market and keyless entry systems that i cant get a definitive answer.


before i go through the hell of calling my dealer and waiting on hold for 20 minutes to give them my vin number to check; do they all come with keyless entry? i only received a valet key when i purchased my car and would like to know if i have that option.

My 92 has it.

You would know if your car has it by the gas and trunk release there should be a toggle to turn keyless entry on or off. or atleast my car has that.

My 95 has keyless entry, It even has that audible "beeping" noise when you lock and unlock the car. But what's strange is that my car doesn't have that toggle switch that let's me turn the keyless entry off/on.

I know for a fact that the 98+ is a 3button remote. The key fob is needed to be present to start the car unless it is a valet key. You need the master key to copy the key and the chip. I'm not sure about the 97. The pre 96 doesn't need a special chip to start the car. You can call lexus and get a once lifetime per car key change+ parts for free. You just have to pay for labor.

97 keys are like the 96. It has an external remote to unlock the car. 98-00 has a 3 button key with an immobilizer.

My 92 and 94 had the remote built into the key. Good luck getting a new one as when I asked Lexus they said there's no replacement key you just have to get new keys and new keyless entry ecu which was like 800 bucks total. My 97 has a remote and is not built into the key. I personally like it built into the keys because it saves space.

i really wanna fix my key. i put in a new battery. but it doesn't work.
the dealer said the one button unlock keys are discontinued.

so aftermarket key fob here we go.
