Default Trouble w/ the SC400

Hi Guys,
Im a newbie and have been having problems with my 1993 SC400. It has 170k miles. My latest issue is the car seems to be out of power. It starts and idles fine but when you listen to the exhaust it sounds as if it has a lumpy cam in it with exhaust. It has little power accelerating and lags to shift. All the fliuds are proper level & clean and just had the plugs &wires replaced along with fuel filter & air filter. I dont think its just the transmission because I can floor it and go nowhere fast and the engine seems to not want to rev or have power. The motor runs like a sewing machine at idle but under a load sounds like it has catback exhaust and goes nowhere fast. Also it is drinking fuel like a beast 10MPG on highway.
My best guest is a slightly slippy transmission and maybe a timing belt tensioner. Before this though the trans shifted fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It's either misfiring or out of timing, too many problems to name that can cause this. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, etc...

at first i would think its your throttle position sensor but then you said it sounds "cammed" so check ALL your vacuum lines i bet its a vacuum line loose or missing

Thanks for the replies.
Its not misfiring like I said runs smooth as can be. SO timing is what I had in mind. Checked vacuum lines twice over and no cracked or missing lines. Even unplugged some small ones and nothing changed while it was running.

Sounds like a bad coil on one side

Coil even though it runs perfect other then not wanting to increase revs/make power? How would I test for this?

unplug either of the two coils and if it runs the same with one of them unplugged its usually that coil thats the bad coil.... if it run even worse when unplugged means the coil is still good on that side.... simple....

but it could be a lot of things... my crank position sensor made my car run like that for awhile.... but it could be a number of things i suggest replace the cheapest first and even if those parts you replaced are not the cause atleast you replaced them.... so its a win win in my eyes
