Default 1jz-gte vs 2jz-gte

So i have a 94 sc400, and i wanna do a swap, so the big question is 1jz-gte or 2jz-gte? if either one which one would be better in the long run?

and also should i keep it auto or convert to manual, im going for a VIP look

Seriously do some searching, this has been beaten to death around 500000000000000000000000 times. in the end it comes down to what are YOUR goals and what is YOUR budget. Everyone else here will give you what their opinions are.

VIP look huh...but concerend with which engine to go with..doesnt make much sense to me. Buy and LS400..

Sorry for being rude, but these "which engine should I put in MY car" threads are getting beat to death and fairly irritating. We cant answer those questions for you cause everyone is opinionated on which is better when both can easily make 450+rwhp, no one know what your finances are like and ultimately like 88supramki said, we dont know YOUR goals with the car. But if your wanting to go VIP, get a car that has a solid VIP base..GS, LS.

man the 1j n 2j topic must feel like rodney king.....

here is the best tip you can get

1st step check your pockets if you dont have upwards of 3000 stop now

2nd step search, search, and research some more the swap has been done a million times and its safe to say every possible issue has been covered with either 1jz and 2jz vvti or non vvti..

search suggestions sc400 1jz swap, sc300 1jz swap, sc400 2jz swap, sc300 2jz

welcome to CL. not a very warm welcome youve gotten cuz of this thread. lol. definitely search next time cuz ppl will hang u here for over asked questions.

Anyhow, a mechanic i met here in florida told me that the sc400 specifically works better with a 2jzgte. sc300 with 1jzgte. i know both swaps can be done but im just telling u what he told me. i didnt ask questions why because thats not the route im going with my car. so i really didnt care for the answer. the guys shop literally had atleast 20 something sc's. so guess what, i believe him. its not cheap though he told me installed 5k, so prepare urself. my 5k is going to twin turbo my 400. gl

If I can do it all over again, I would have done NA-T and used a TT intake manifold instead of wasting a ton of money on the swap.

1jz is for people who can't afford to tune a 2jz and all it's fun accys.

You can have variable valve timing, tune by wire, instant diagnosis, and a host of fun gizmos for the 2jz IF you can afford to do it all.

Swaps don't come easy man. You really need to do some research. This shouldn't even be a question 1J or 2J. If you actually searched you'd know what you want to do and how.

^^^ This! I have a few friends that have done at least 3 2J swaps each and would much rather just do an NA-T set up..
