Default Starter question(year change?)

I have a 95 sc300 2jzge production date 07/94.

Napa says the starter is different for pre and post 95 production dates. What is the difference if any? I usually have great luck with this napa but I tried searching here and found no one talking about a production date change and starters.

When I look it up on the napa site it shows NAE 17529(amongst others). When I search for the part number in general it lists 2 models with the same part number and same price. 1 with the solenoid and 1 without it. So I am guessing that could be the difference? Which would I need?

I am not looking to rebuild or repair my current starter, I am set on the napa NAE line.

Nippon Denso starters almost never fail the contact plates just wear out. Why you want to replace a high quality Denso starter with a cheap NAPA rebuild is beyond me.

true! if anything take it to be rebuilt at an alternator specialist. and have them make it higher output.

Who says the starter I have in there now is stock and hasn't been replaced by the PO.

I appreciate all input but I expected these types of response so I tried to point out ahead of time what I was intending .

Denso starters are good for over 150,000 miles. If it has been replaced that furthers my point on quality.

I am not ordering a starter, sorry guys I hear you on quality and all I am not trying to skimp nor start some debate.

I have used napa starters on all my vehicles without a problem. Worst case it dies and I replace it under warranty, I can pull the starter in short order it's not a big deal. Shipping a starter back for a core fee is costly also. I am not too concerned with dropping a starter that is expected to last 150k miles into a car with nearly 200k miles on it already. A lot of things I will do dealer only, this isn't one of them.

I tried to ask a direct question on year changes I guess I made a mistake.

A solenoid (also known as the relay) is what your listing as the difference?
because as i posted.. theres No change in years for the manufacture's listed part number. meaning theres no change..
but a solenoid is considered the relay. usually a separate part from the starter motor itself..

id have to say buy the proper one and you wont have to guess which napa one to gamble with.

Theres a pic of the Denso starter - im going to assume you will want the one with the solenoid unless your keeping your current one to work with the new napa motor?

let us know what you actually find out
