you dont need to swap, there are plenty of guys that are NA-T that can run 12's or lower of course a lot of them are supra's but pretty much same difference.

http://www.toyomoto.com/sc300.htm

though you'll spend more $$$$$ to get 12 sec than your friend did...

you can get around 450rwhp with the 1.5 turbo kit with a 'lil bit of tuning, and in the 500's on race gas. The supra swap will give you 320bhp, but can be tuned to be in the 400 range. Turbo'n your N/A motor is more cost effective and produces more hp. Plus, it will cost you cose to 10k for the swap, plus anther 7-9k to upgrade the stock turbo's ifyou decide to do that later on. And yes you will keep up with that mustang with a toyomotor setup and most likely beat him. Jeff ran like a 11.9 (i believe) on his stage 2 toyomotor turbo setup.

Talking Maybe

You have $6000 to spare. Let use $2500 for 89 toyota supra turbo the other $2500 for your fuel, turbo and misc. upgrade to 15.0 PSI. Maybe you can pickup around 380rhp. At high rpm, you will smoke mustang for good.

Second option is to use your $6000 dollars to upgrade your engine. Visit www.greddy.com for turbo kit.

You will be saving lots of money if you don't swap the engine. Just turbo your SC.

Fred, 12sec Stangs are like @ssholes, everyone's got one. I've had a few myself. Comparing a Mustang to an SC, no matter how fast or modified, is apples to kiwis. The 2JZ motors are heavily over-engineered, you can make very nice power on the stock block. If you're looking for 300-600 rwhp, turbo'ing the oe GE motor is the way to go. If you're looking for 600-1000+ hp, the GTE swap will be better for the long run. Now here's something you'll have to learn to deal with, you said 'best performance for the least money.' Those two terms often contradict each other. If that's what you want, find an '86-7 GN or T-Type Turbo, put a grand into it, and have an M killer. If you want serious hp with reliability, quality, luxury, and prestige (not to mention great handling potential), then the SC is the way. Off the top of my head, Toyomoto stage 2 with a Haltech E6K and MSD DIS4, TO4E, FMIC, BOV, 8.5:1 hg, dp, TT pump, wastegate, and valve body is around 15 grand installed, which is really not expensive for what you get, so start savin' that cheddar, and if you need more info on them, SC300TURBO is the man to talk to, Jeff's putting Lance Ho Lung's kids through college
