My Front wheels shake at low speeds in Reverse....Fowards it seems ok

Mechanic wants $1000.00 to change control Arm Bushings???????
is this a correct diagnosis?
Price seems high as well

I think the diagnosis is plausible (check out the ball joints too). If the LCAs are that bad, then you should be able to look at them and pretty much tell that the rearmost bushing is disintegrated. As a background, I suggest you do some searching on here about replacing front LCAs. There's lot's of discussion and pricing info and options.
