Suggestions on buffing
 

Hey CL I tried to buff out this scratch twice with no success. My friend back out into me and his paint scraped off onto mines. Any suggestions on how to get it off? Thanks

You will need a rotary or orbital buffer with some rubbing compound..Bring to body shop or detailer, they probably have a rotary..May need to wet sand...

3M "Easy CUT" will take that right out. Comes in a bottle, extremely easy DIY, just search. It's just a extremely fine rubbing compound and you need nothing other than a soft clean rag to apply/take off. Should not cost you more than $20, and take all of 5 minutes to fix. (If it is not deeply scratched) ALL 3M products are the BOMB! I love 3M products!!!

^^^ LOL thanks guys I'll try and borrow my friend's rotorary buffer and get some 3M Easy Out on my next trip to autozone. Hopefully I won't have to repaint anything.

Laquer thinner on a rag. Lightly rub out the white paint first, ONLY the area where the paint is. Give it about a half an hour because the paint will be weak and could be stripped to soon after. Then polish by hand or machine. I detailed cars for 10 years. This WORKS.

You dont need a machine,you can do it by hand.

Apply Rubbing Compound with rag, then wipe
Apply Polishing Compund with rag, then wipe
Apply wax with rag, then wipe
Stand back and admire your work

My bad....3M is not making "Easy CUT" anymore....the new product is
3M Perfect-It II Rubbing Compound - Fine Cut, Amazon.com sells it....not sure if Autozone,Pepboys etc stocks/sells the stuff, but it's GREAT stuff and I ALWAYS keep some handy in the garage. You'll love it and if that scratch isn't deep into your original paint this stuff will take it off in a few minutes of easy rubbing. ALL of 3M's polishing and buffing compounds are terrific products and worth every penny.
