10w30 is a good all around oil. If your in an area colder than -20 then use a thinner oil. It doesnt "protect" more or less. Basically the 5 is more fluid like (water like) when its cold so it runs through the motor and what not easier. As it warms up it becomes more "oil" like and thicker. The Viscosity doesnt change much. A 0W is basically the more "water" like you can get. Take a straight 30 weight oil, and a 5W30 and then a 0w30 and put them in a deep freezer for a lil while. The try and pour them into another container. The 0w30 will still pour easily while the heavier or less fluid "water" like you get as the number gets higher. Then take the same amounts and warm them up to lets say 100 degrees and they all flow the same.

Basically the run 10w30 unless your in colder weather. Now if we talk brands this will become a long post. Run regular oil on a high mileage motor. Dont do synthetic as the detergents and polymers will break down the stuff causing your engine to not leak oil if its being plugged!

make sense?

Thought I would run it by you guys as well.

I do notice the car is burning more gas than usual.

I think im gonna try 5w30 next time see if I notive a diff.

a 1uzfe will not burn oil much its not a small 4 cyl honda engine but put 5w30 in there this is the best oil you can use, mobil 1 5w30 anytime of the year exept in very hot climate

here it gets bellow 30 celcius (-30) and with 10w30 my sc would have a freakin hard time running with an oil so thick in the cold, bellow 20 its not good as other members said.

You have to pay someone to do your oil changes?
