*Spoiler brake light not working - Help!*

I have a 99 SC and notice my spoiler brake light will not come on when brake is depressed. No warning lights are on, I check the fuse (tail and brake) by the driver kick panel, all seems good.

Any other places to check?

I have the same issue. 93 sc400. Spoiler brake light isn't working. I haven't looked into it so much though.

You had to replace the whole spoiler?

Has anyone replaced the led light on the spoiler? The part can be ordered from Lexus for about $250; i wonder if i just plug in a new one, will it work.

I replaced mine (I have a '99) - half of it was burned out and it looked retarded. It's fairly simple - unscrew it from the spoiler, find the connector, disconnect, throw on the new one, screw it back in. You'll probably have to take out some of the trunk lining to get at the connector but it's not too bad.

Check with aliga or someone like that for a new one instead of going to the stealership. I got my new (used) one from him for considerably less than $250.

People are always getting rid of their 97+ spoilers in the classifieds section. Create a post for either the LED light or entire spoiler. I bet you'll have 3 replies in a few hours.

Great info guys. Thanks!

Mine just has a few burnt out ones...pisses me off lol. I'd rather have the 92-96 spoiler though to be honest. I dont know what kind is on mine.

Mine was burnt out when i bought it so like a week after I owned it i decided to take it apart and see whats up. I knew it wasn't the wiring because I checked the plug and it was receiving power. So I opened it (breaking the glue holding the lens on and found that a resistor or diode exploded and was no longer getting power to the bulbs. The bulbs were all corroded as well so I didnt bother figuring out what the diode or resistor was. So I went on ebay finding a 16" Strip of LEDs. Cut off the original LEDs making a flat surface to attach/stick to. Stuck it on, rewired through the seal and it looks brand new. The colors arn't washed out on the lens at all either. Perfectly red, not pink due to the LEDs being too bright. I was so happy to get it fixed. Now its not just a red bar on the spoiler anymore. It lights up!! :D Heres a couple pics.

It cost me about 20 bucks shipped for the strip, and took maybe 20 minutes to fix it not including the silicone to dry obviously but yeah not a lot of time at all. Was put back on my car the same day.

That's what's up a cheaper alternative to buying the whole piece

I had this problem and I pulled back my linner and the wiring harness by the tank before it goes into the firewall was rubbing and cut the wire to the spoiler light.
