Default W58 Transmission Question

Just wondering if a W58 out of a Mk3 will fit right into a 93 sc300? If not what else would I need to purchase to swap this transmission from a auto? and if a 1jz swap would be easier and better?

Um i would think so the only part that confuses me is the bell housing. like in a r154 i know you need the 1jz bell housing but i think and dont shoot me if im wring but on the w58 i think you would need the 2jz bell housing.

from what i remember i think you need the tail section and bellhousing off of a later w58 to make it fit. also the correct driveshaft.

Don't simplify information this breeds misinformation. 89 and up W58s are steel center section, like the sc300 and mkiv W58, strength wise they are the same. Quite possibly as strong as a R154, (i say this because i can break a R but for the life of me cant get a W58 to fail) Pre 89 W58s have an aluminum center plate, and they are known to fail around the 300hp range when abused. and this is where the internet Misinformation came from about the W58s being weak.

the shifter on the mk3 transmissions is shorter, we put a mk3 transmission in bardledoo's(sp) sc400, and i made a S shaped shifter to make it reach the SC shifter hole. the drive shaft works the same. changing the tail section of the transmission if you have one handy will work as well. and of corse you'll need the bell housing.

Also a custom mount will be needed. Just get the right transmission... 92+ SC300 or 93.5+ Supra.

Speaking of which, I think I'm gonna try again with a stock shifter because the non-dampened shifter vibrates too damn much and I want to use my TRD ****.

driftmotion sells a 1 piece w58/r154 aluminum or steel driveshaft also optional metal doughnut instead of rubber isolators between the driveshaft. Problem solved.
