Default help rear struts 1995 SC400

i just bought a 1995 sc400 for 2500 with 145xxx on it and it turns out the struts have gone out. Is it easy to fix them my self our should i return the car they mechanic priced the labor and parts at 800 and i do not have the money for that i was just wondering if there any way of replacing them myself and if so what all would i need to get extra parts strut boot, tools etc...

Easiest way out is to find a set of used ones on here with springs already installed. That way it will be replacing the assembly.

If not, you other option is to buy new struts and do it your self. You'll need simple hand tools, breaker bar, pry bar and a spring compressor to make things going back together easier. It would be nice that you have some mechanical experience; I would say the most daunting part is getting the spring off and back on if you're a beginner.
