One of things that's better about the sc though is that on these forums u get to see and read about all this stuff that everybody's doin to theirs, but on bimmerforums.com mostly all threads are "Help!" threads, unfortunately nobody's modding their bmw that much haha to be expected

The crazy thing about bimmers, is there is a very small performance gains from mods. Since they are "performance" sedans from factory there isn't much you can do to make a real difference, trust me I've owned e90 and can tell you few things about them.
Nice cars when it comes to handling, but not cooling or electrical issues aside from interior wear.
That's the main reason I went with Lexus 2nd time around.
Enjoy your 528 and also have your pops put some $$$ on a side to keep up the maintenance, keep that brake fluid flushed every 20k miles too

Hahaha. Best thread ever. Anyway, you are 16 and are choosing between and Lexus and a BMW. You’re one luck s.o.b., my first car was a 94 Civic DX that loved to overheat until my I found a crack in the head gasket and blew the engine (hated that car). I just recently adopted my dad’s (now my) SC4.
It’s been said before, but what I comes down to is this...
Reliability and repair costs- Win for Lexus
Teenager driving friends around (I’m 18 and “try” this with my SC)- Win for BMW
Gas costs (if you are paying)- Win for BMW
Rare and beautiful car- Win for Lexus
Performance w/ mods- Win for Lexus
Overall satisfaction- I believe our SC owners are much happier than any E39 owner
Good choice either way. My main issue is overall price to maintain and to that the SC wins. Forget about my friends who are sometimes cramped in the backseat, haha.
Have fun with your choice bro!

Ill post some pics once i can get them on my comp, im no photographer though , and im very suprised why i always hear about bmws being high maintenance cars that break down a lot and have a lot of problems. My dad says it's all about maintaing them and just regular normal stuff that people just forget or dont care about doing. He has never had any problems with his 740il, and I also heard that they eat oil, but he says he never has to change it inbetween regular oil changes, so idk. Maybe people just arent taking care of their cars. So I will see about mine, its a one owner in great condition with i think 130k miles so not too bad for a 10 year old car, but cars are confusing and complicated seems like anything can happen, haha.

I love this thread, probably cause I'm a BMW tech tech and SC owner though. The E39 is a pretty solid car and easy to work on. It will be a good car for basic transportation, just not anything to get very passionate about like our coupes.
