I had an intermittent stalling issue and I could not figure it out. I attempted to fix the issue for about a year but nothing. Wife started to get on me about the "Red Dragon" parked on the dire way. I practically gave the car away.

May I suggest you clean the insides of that EGR cover plate on the back of the head? I you are still have the EGR system connected it could cause error codes, easier to clean with the head off the block.

at 262K miles and been tackling my 99 problems one at a time. I got the new power steering pump in-it was a rebuilt one from rockauto. the install went without a hitch. bled it too and feels good upon driving-no mo heavy steering wheel feels. What I am experiencing now is a steering wheel whine with the new pump. The whine only happens on initial cold start in the morning and I move the steering wheel. Flushed and bled it twice already with ATF using 2 different ATF brands-the one i just did was full synthetic. The whine goes away after driving the car for a while and the car is warmed up. Any ideas?

How old is your serpentine belt? An old/loose belt would cause the same noise in the morning when it's cold and go away once warmed up.

Yes, definitely! I’ve cleaned as much of the head that I could inside and out. I have hit a snag in that there are a couple of screws that are broken in the head... One for one of the valve covers and one of the EGR tube screws... So I’m waiting on a tool to fix it. Also waiting on the correct 12 point deep socket for the ARP studs. I tried the 14mm and 13mm that were suggested in a few posts, they were both way too big for those nuts...

Between yesterday and today, I cleaned the old gasket off the block and the head (which took longer than taking the whole friggin thing apart). Put the new gasket in place and screwed the studs into place also. Now I wait...
