I finally got my new wheel back from the paint shop and the car looks way better now. I am hoping to get my brake calipers powder coated soon too.

Default BBK Underway!

Finally got around to sanding and painting the LS400 BBK for the SC, waiting for the TRD decals to come for the fronts so I can finish them and slap em on. Planning on runing a set of SC400 rear claiper I got sitting around. I also have the SS lines, & drilled and slotted rotors all around! I'm excited to have this bad boy stop like it should.

Thanks! I pulled the PCV valve and tapped the hole to 1/2” pulled the right angle barb from the exhaust side, drilled it out to 1/2” and tapped it also. Installed a 1/2” to 5/8” hose barb and slapped some breather filters onto them. Got the idea from Ali.

I painted the valve covers and the rear spark plug valley cover with truck bed liner, love the end result. Painted the Timing belt cover using some spare gold paint. Also painted the intake manifold. Couldn’t get it clean any other way.

While I was in there, I removed much of the EGR system (left the vsv’s and reconnected them but removed all the vacuum tubes, no check engine light) and all the vacuum lines that ran under the intake manifold. Replumbed the ACIS valve so that it is connected to the intake manifold directly. That way I retain its torque benefits.

Also installed some wire loom around my coil pack wiring and additional ECU wires that were added for the sake of the GTE ECU mod.

I’m REALLY looking forward to installing the turbo now.

You did a great job cleaning and prepping beforehand! Once you get into the turbo install you'll be glad you did. Great work sir!

onto my 3rd crankshaft pulley. replaced the original at 200K with a used lower mileage one ~130K-140K miles. in total, the 2nd got about 200K miles before it broke in two. in the first one, i could see the cracks in the rubber.

Symptoms were:

-loud screech/squeal at startup (thought the starter was going bad-also replaced the serpentine belt)
-squealing when turning the wheel (thought my new power steering pump was going bad)
-squealing when acceleration, shifting, and full lock going reverse (thought my clutch was eating the flywheel)

The bigger aluminum splash shield that goes under the engine provides an extra 2-3 inches of clearance compared to the original plastic one since it has a flat design to it.

My jack hits the vented part. I don't have one of the large splash shields. I've been waiting for the day that my car doesn't have any fluid leaks to order one of your nice aluminum ones. I thought I achieved it, but my latest steering rack has developed a leak around the evo unit or low pressure line.
