Default How Much for a 1JZ Setup?

So guys, how much do you think a 1JZ-GTE with transmission and everything to do a swap is worth?

I'm pretty sure this topic has been covered. Are you looking for a 5-speed ones or auto? 5 speed will cost you more obviously, auto is around 1000-1500 depending on where you buy, Jhot is good I heard, but if you plan on taking the opportunity to replace all the gaskets, seals, waterpump, timing belt, etc.. you can potentially buy a cheaper one and spend money on replacement parts, of course then the cost will add up but will be good for you in the long run.

Swaps are getting really hard to find that are complete and in decent shape. I would say a nice, complete 1jz/r154 SOARER swap will go for around 2k-2500 these days if not more. Good luck finding one though. All I have seen lately are Chaser and Supra swaps.

That's the thing, a friend of my dads has a MKIII and its in good condition. I still don't know if it is manual or not. Just needed a heads up into what I should pay for it.

2000 tops if its a manual and in good condition IMO. The wiring will be more of a PITA, and the trans will need a new shifter to be right. I would offer around $1500 and go from there.

my swap cost me $1200, and the guy threw in a 3" downpipe to fit the twins. i extended my harness myself (PITA), but that should cost about $150-$300 to get it extended. if you want the manual, add another $800. so a str8 drop in auto swap should not go over $1500, then like clearp stated, if you wanna do WP, TB, all gaskets, etc, then the price goes up

look to pay $1000-2000 for a motorset. Keep in mind you need a bunch of other bits like a new clutch, gasket set, wiring, extra dough for bad parts....it's much more expensive than i thought until i dove into it and im still not done with my car....

Exactly. Unless you plan to just toss the motor in with zero maintenance done, you will spend a minimum of $500 extra on maintenance and repair items. I spent almost as much on maintenance items, replacement parts, clutch, etc as I did on the engine itself.
