Default Foglight Retrofit (Lots of Pictures)

I had some spare time and decided to experiment. I've seen several threads focusing on headlight retrofits but haven't seen too many, if any for the fogs.

So I decided to give our fogs some love.

I previously ran the 2500K Nokyas. They were still not as yellow as I would have liked. One day one of them burned out so I decided to get my hands dirty. I painted the housings black while I was at it. These are not capsules or film, they are actually yellow projectors. The images don't quite capture what they look like in real life. If you know how yellow the IS/GS/ES fogs are, that will give you an idea.

Enjoy!

Image showing housing untouched.

Image showing factory wiring intact.

Detail shot of the access cover showing the amount porting that was needed to clear the projectors.

Trust me they are not this yellow, they are more amber in color.

Do you have a write up or any other info on how this was done?

Sorry I never got to document the process with pictures. I didn't even know if they would work; all I remember was I read somewhere on here that 92' - 94' ES300 fog projectors would fit inside. Other than that I never did find a finished product, I just went on a hunch.

I'll try to lists the steps I took to do the retrofit.

1. First, obtain a set of 92' - 94' foglamps. All you'll need are the projectors, no need for the housings.

2. Remove the clear lens from the SC fog like you would on the headlights. I used the oven method.

3. Disassemble the SC foglight assembly.

4. On the rear of the SC, where you would replace the H3 bulb. You will have to use a grinding tool to widen the access hole to allow enough clearance for the ES fog projector to fit.

5. Once completed, you will have to grind the outer two flanges on the ES fogs to clear the reflector of the SC fog.

6. Place the the projector into the housing and snap the ball end into place. I lucked out, the vertical adjustment rod fits on the ES fog and will allow you to adjust just like factory on the SC. It also acts as a mount for the projector.

7. A hole will have to be drilled out on the reflector to allow you to place a zip-tie to reinforce the projector.

8. Reassemble the foglight assembly and you're good to go.

Once completed, everything will look factory on the outside; you will still retain the use of the access covers for the bulbs. You will still be able to adjust vertically using the factory adjustment screw. Sorry this is about the best I can do. A lot of this won't make sense until you see inside.

I will definitely document the process with pictures the next time I do this.

I'll try to shoot a picture later on tonight. I debated on removing the cutoffs but decided to leave the factory cutouts so not to blind oncoming drivers.

So you just need the projectors from an ES? or Connectors too?

No need for connectors or wiring, you will retain all the factory plugs. You will still be able to change out bulbs just like it was factory.
