Default sc400 performance...lacking

Yo.

I have a 93 sc400 with about 128k on the clock.

It starts and runs great, but it seems a little sluggish to me. I understand that these cars aren't mega fast, but from what i've read, 0-60 should be under 7 seconds and the best i can do (stopwatch) is 8.7. Seems slow...

I've just finished replacing the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor on the car but it doesn't really seem any different to me.

Any thoughts on some other stuff I might want to look into?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

How is she breathing? Mine has 141k and I manage to do 0-60 under 7 seconds everyday.
Maybe your air filter is dirty or your cats are clogged. Revs up to 6k??
How´s the auto doing? Maybe is slipping...

What about your exhaust?
How are you launching it?

just did this one today and it def makes a difference off the line...

not sure about the MAF one yet. I would probably only do that if I was going to race someone as it appears to eat up the fuel...

My guess would be your cats might be a bit clogged and or the air filter------- im not sure if the throttle body being dirty can affect performance to the point your talking about ---but i think it would be worth giving it a once over.

Good luck.

I have a 1995 with the exact same issue. It is butter smooth and revs out perfectly fine. It is just super super slow. I'll have to see if it does have a clogged cat. I had another 1995 though that had a clogged cat but it was obvious because it broke apart and sounded like sand in the exhaust and my current 1995 does not make that sound, I'll still have to check anyway. By the way both 1995s were the 1st gen 1UZ just like yours, it wasn't until the later months the 1995s got the higher hp 2nd gen thin rod non vvti motors.
