Yeah i will do it this weekend to see what it might be.

But it's probably your ecu
the car has over 260k miles. never overheated tho since i have had it. If it is a head gasket problem it was bound to happen any way just sucks that i put the money in for a tuneup 4 months ago ....

IDK, since I'm holding out hope for you that it isn't a HG, then I'm thinking maybe a bad fuel injector stuck open?? OH . . .Just out of curiousity, how long did you run it with the 5spd ecu in there?? If it was only to fire it up and test it, there could have been residual fuel from the first ecu that hadn't cleared out yet and given more time it will stop smoking (just brainstorming here)

I hate seeing people go through these kinds of problems ---good luck man----hope it is not as serious as it seems right now.

....i found a place in my area that gives you a 90 day money back guarantee on parts --even electronics------try to find one in your area that does the same-----swap the ecu again and hope for the best ---if it doesnt work your not out any money---just a bit of time and effort.

Good luck

If you research and fuel is supposed to be white for who-knows-what reason, perhaps you have a dying O2 sensor.

your symptoms seem strange to me to not be a turbo car or have a BHG

mines a BHG for sure, I'm sure your's is aswell, that would be a HUGE amount of unburned fuel to create a cloud behind you as you drive off. It's just a slow leak, mines at the point of no return, 1.3mm HG, here I come.

What colour is the coolant and oil? Masses of white smoke = blown head (own experience).

For everyone that helped with the situation thanks, All the ideas helped narrow down the real issue....a stinking PCV valve well both to be exact. One was stuck open and some oil was getting sucked into the y pipe of the intake manifold. When i took off the hose to check it was lined with oil on both of them. So after changing them both the smoke has stopped, still smells a little like burning oil, but as the days go by the smell get less intense so i think that had to have been the problem. Thanks again guys. This community never disappoints!
