Default Greetings..Looking to Buy SC300 w/2JZGTE swap..?s

Title says it...
I obviously new to the forums, Hope you are doing well!
I have been looking at acquiring an SC300 for a fun car.
I will be doing a 2JZGTE swap, unless I can find one already done, and after that, go single and see where I end up.

I am currently looking at a 92 SC300 with the 2JZGTE swap ALREADY done. the motor is still mostly stock, running stock twins, I dont think it even has BPU.
Herein lies the problem, potentially. the car has a salvage title, but the owner claims he has done all the work and just hasnt completed the paperwork to transfer to a blue title.
I have no reason to doubt that he has fixed any issues, but the fact remains that it had a salvage title.
I am not sure what happened to the car, heck, it could have been a minor accident, and the insurance company just totalled it or somethin, he hasnt gotten back to me on the reason yet.

I am looking for some feedback and educated opinions here, the owner is asking around $10K for it. It has a 5spd as well.

Thanks in advance....

well, if he can provide proof of repair or proof of what was damaged in the first place...but yeah I understand, probably better off doing all the work myself, knowing it's in good shape.

I wouldnt buy someone's project...your looking at an SC for $10k, when you can get an SC for <$5000 and just do a swap for a little over $3500 and know how it was installed, what maintenance was done before the swap was done, etc...

Buy a stock one and do the swap yourself. Its cheaper and will cost less. Plus you get the satisfaction of building the damn car. I can say its a freakin awesome feeling.

1) dont ever buy a salvaged car. I don't care how clean they look or how low their miles are. Theres always something wrong with them. (their miles are low being they were sitting for such a long time with that extensive damage BTW).
2) purchasing someone else's project isn't always a bad thing. Truth of the matter is I see so many people give the advice of "Oh go and do it yourself and you'll save all this money and you'll have a much better car". Well i'm sorry to brake it to a lot of you guys, but 90% of the people out there have no damn clue what they are doing, and almost all the time give up half way mid project due to insufficient funds, lack of motivation, or just straight laziness. This is why I always see so many SC's that look like they were neglected. People, stop half a$$ing these cars! Stop ruining these cars for the rest of us. If your going to do it, great! But FINISH IT! Im just tired of seeing such half a##ed SC's. It's hard enough to find a nice clean stock SC these days.

Finding a car thats already done has many benefits as well. You know exactly what your getting yourself into as in: What the overall end result is, how it runs, meeting your goals or not, and best of all, not wasting tonz of time on it. You can step inside a car, drive it and say to yourself, " hey this is exactly what I thought it was going to be, or OMG I cant believe I was even thinking about this". People say theres no better satisfaction that doing something yourself, but they also say your greatest resource is your time.

Moral of the story: If you sincerely know what you're doing (which you probably don't since you posted this thread) and have goals set, buy a stock car and mod it yourself. If you want the quick easy and painless way, find one that was done right. It will save you god knows how much time and hassle.

Sorry to confuse you, but if i did that a good thing, it should get you thinking.

I wont be gettin a salvaged car, but I could care less what condition the motor, suspension or tranny are in, as long as it's an OEM 5spd. I just dont feel like putting the 5spd together(going from auto to 5spd) and pedals in, and jackin with the interior to place the stick.

not confused, no worries. thx for the feedback

Dont let salvaged car scare you.. It is a cheap way to look for a cheap shell. Since you dont need the motor , tranny and suspension, then it is good. Just as long you look into the frame and the body of the car... If you keeping the engine and etc.. then I would be scared to buy a salvaged car.
