why does my exhuast crackle?

Default why does my exhuast crackle?

So when i shut my car off the exhuast piping always makes this crackling noise? why does it do that? and how do i fix it?

mine did that a lot when it was stock. go after market. nothing wrong with it, its normal

metal expands when hot when it cools it shrinks

mine used to crackle when i was stock, and i just realized it doesnt when i changed my exhaust

So if its simple science...then why do new cars not do it? Heat is constanty expanding causin piping to expand, but yet I don't hear this crackle on new or newer cars. I've owned over 60 cars..and it only did this on two of them. My sc400 and my infinity q45.

It could just be the type of metal man. Thats what it is, our exhaust could get hotter than other cars but the crackling is only the metal cooling.

I think its the heat shield on the exhaust It gets so effin' hot.
Its normal.
