Having shifter issues need help w58 to r154 swap
So I bought a used R154 with an extended shifter, and apparantly the shifter provided with the sale was not the correct one for the SC and the extended shifter. Being that I had to cut about 4" inches back from where the original shifter was located. Here is a picture of what the shifter relocator looks like.
anyone know what shifter extender this is?
and what shifter i need to make this work.

Looks like the extension done by companies like Tech2. It places the shifter seat in the location associated with remote tripod mounted W58s as in 96(5) - 97 cars. The remote mount location uses a straight shifter vs. the swan style shifter used in older SCs.
Does the shifter seat line up with the boot?

Thanks for the info Shern.
I might be having the same issue as i have a difficult time engaging first gear, and noticed it was a problem with the shifter not bringing the shaft far back enough.
I also tried my stock w58 swan shifter and had problems as well.
did your extension look somewhat similar to this? (i re-sized the image)
what did you do to correct the problem?

Hey thanks for the help but those shifters appear to be for an external type shifter. I need the one that works internally in the shifter extender. I cant seem to find one anywhere I might have to buy this new from stealership. looks to be my only choice at the moment.
Help is appreciated thank you.
