Exclamation Some sort of "winding" noise under my car?

I'm having some issues with my SC300. Whenever I brake, it would slow down and you would hear some sort "winding" sound right before and after I come to a complete stop. You can hear it wind back up when I accelerate on the gas as well. I was guessing it is probably my rotors because it was loud until I eventually changed the front brake pads; from there it sort of died out but it came back recently again. My friend predicted it could be my propeller shaft.

Also, whenever I am stepping down on the brake, my car would have a light shake, but when I lift my foot off the brake or put the e-brake on and have my foot off, it won't shake. I'm not really sure what the problem is. Does anyone here ever had this sort of problem before?

For winding noise: check to make sure your caliper is not seized up in one position.

For shaking steering wheel when brakes are applyed: Typically rotors that are warped will cause this shaking to the steering wheel. Buy new rotors for the fix. You must replace with new pads.

it's not the steering wheel that shakes, you feel the vibrations throughout the entire car. I'm not clear on what you mean by my calipers seized. I compressed them when I put in the new front pads.

That's because the e-brake doesn't use the calipers.

sounds like a confirmation of rotor issues

I think that it is definately a rotor problem.

Also try checking your ball joints to see if there are any plays. Weird things can happen when ball joints are shot.

I'll get the car checked out this weekend when I get my alignment done. I'll let you know what's up with my car when I get the results.

Also, I believe that it could be the Drive shaft. It comes and goes.

Differential going bad....? When was the last time you checked/changed your Diff fluid. Simple way to test you drive shaft and/or differential noise is to put the car in neutral while you are slowing down/driving and see if the noise stops. Let us know what you find out is/was the cause.

Did some runs today and found out it was the drive shaft. My friend told me to get some bushings for it and change the Transmission fluid as well. Not really a big issue; just really annoying. :]

Once the bushings are changed and the transmission oil changed, I'll see if the problem still persists.
