Trying to make a decision on a Engine and I need Help!

I have a SC300. Im trying to decide on what engine i want to put in my car. Ive been told that I can fit a Toyota Tundra 4.7 in it. Also been told that I can put a SC400 in it. I want to do one of these but not sure. Which one would be better to do.

It all depends on the HP you want to achieve and your budget.

Dude drop a 1j n it and call it a day ull b happy trust me twin turbo

1JZ & 2JZGTE are the most taken routes for swapping but I suggest finding out how much power you want, your budget and then search.

1UZ is a lot lighter than a 2UZ because the 1UZ is an all aluminum block and the 2UZ is a cast iron block. Lextreme.com has a lot of detailed info on the UZ engines.

How much do you like driving standard? Definitely drop a jz series in.

sell your 300 and get a 400.

Sounds like you have a good bit of research to do if those were your 2 swapping options

Thanks guys. I think imma go with the 2JZ-GTTE. Found out that there isnt really a whole lot you can do to the 1U or the 2U and there are possible problems that I have no time for.

Put a '98 Buick Riviera motor in. According to Buick it's much better and will be around much longer than any of the SC300/400's.

This is kind of off topic but I didnt want to start a new thread...Do you guys leave the overdrive on? my friend told me to turn it on only on the freeway but my cousin said to always have it on for better fuel economy...which one is right?

TankMR 05-11-10 04:43 PM

I thought the Tundra's displacement was 5.7L, not 4.7

If you had a 400 all ready then do what you want as far as 123uz but since you have a 300 just do a jz swap, there are so many options & parts for the jz. I am doing a 3uzfe (SC430) short block in my 98 vvti 400 right now, its suppose to be the only direct bolt up block swap on the 400.Good luck w/build.
