Unhappy Now what ???

So i'm driving on the HWY to get back home for my birthday party today, & i'm hearing an exhaust note that sounds very low & throaty like an old school muscle car. I check my rear view mirror, then realize the noise is from my car. With all the road noise, I never noticed that my exhaust had been making that sound. The more I drive the more annoying it is. I get off the highway & get home to hear my brother say: "Did you get a new exhaust, it sounds good"
I know the exhaust is old, but what would cause an SC400 to have a foul exhaust note like that all of a sudden ? I think it might be the resonators, but i'm not sure. I'm going to the shop to have them check it. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks for listening.

do you have a broken section of exhaust pipe somewhere?

or maybe a hole in your muffler?

You could always get down on the ground, look, and listen for where exactly the noise increase is coming from. Have someone rev the engine for you while you look.

I'll try that before I go to the shop today.

My mid pipe got completely torn when i was driving home. It was hella loud and annoying. Yeah your best bet is to go and check your midpipe/exhaust if theres any holes/gaps and weld it up

Default Problem solved, for now...

I've had a problem with the exhaust note. It sounded like an old school muscle car. The culprit was the right hand cat. It was rattling & sounded clogged so the mechanic said instead of buying an OEM cat; gut it & save the $$$$ until I can buy a new one. Since this was done, the exhaust sounds a lot better, knock on wood. The honeycomb inside the cat was broken causing the horrible exhaust note I was hearing. I'm considering to do the same procedure for the left side cat but I want to know if there are repercussions to this other than failing Emissions ?
