Default Weight of MKIV TT Wheels - OK for SC?

I thought MKIV TT wheels were known to be lightweight but found otherwise. Determined that TT wheels are on the order of 23-26 lbs per wheel, depending on fronts or rears and whether original, machine finished, or chrome.

Aren't these supposed to be lighter?

Yeah... that's what they weigh. Why would they be lighter?

Going on the fact that its a Toyota OEM wheel and of larger dimensions than what came stock with the car, it only makes sense that they would be heavier than our factory 16's. There are many on here running cast 18" and 19" wheels that weight considerably more than the TT wheels. The weight shouldn't be of concern, but if lightweight is your goal in terms of wheel selection, definitely look into something else.

Why would they be lighter than that? They are oem wheels, is your car going to be a track car?

Lighter than 23-26 lbs per wheel. Lightweight as in the 17-19 lbs. range. The MKIV TT wheels I thought were known to be lightweight.

Point of concern as wheels are part of the unsprung mass.

Here's a good reference on wheel weights, since it might be relevant to the topic:

http://www.moreboost.org/weights.htm

Im not sure if MKIV wheels are known to be light, or to be considered as a lighter alternative. For one thing, its typical to use oem FD wheels for MKIV drags since they are much lighter.

No specific plans other than everything else being equal, lighter weight would be preferred...

240 does indeed seem to be much more hardcore JDM. But no need as the SC is meant to be a GT car.
