why does my sc300 crackle after a long drive

Default why does my sc300 crackle after a long drive

after a nice long drive,when i park my sc i hear this metallic crackle coming from the exhaust. and this happend to my moms old camry too what causes that crackle?

Correct. In an easier way to put it, the heat shields are metal, and when they HEAT they expand. Upon cooling, these shields contract again, and when contracting it will create those crackles that you hear, or pings. Its simply the metal cooling and contracting.

The above seems to be logical answer

but, I have always thought that the crackling came from my cats and crackling are signs of cats going bad...
