Exhaust Cut Out Switch for sc300
I have recently bought a 95 manual sc300, and this is the first upgrade I am planning to do to it. I've read on ebay about an exhaust cut out which seems like a very cheap way to gain some hp. Now, I've heard good and bad things about it. The bad this I've heard is that there is going to be niot enough back pressure if I install it before the cat and that it is going to be too loud. But I also heard that you can control the switch from inside the car, so you don't have to open it all the way. Anyone installed it on their car? They should be universall. My other consern is - will there be any problems with the computer? With the check engine light come on?
Here it is on ebay:

I'd avoid it, and purchase a complete exhaust upgrade.
Placement of those things are critical, and yes, the noise would be deafening. That product is good for turning down and old V-8 exhaust before the muffler. Not meant to turn down before a cat. It still needs a long primary exhaust to function properly, and it isn't designed for newer cars.
I will kill your torque and could possibly slow you down.
Just my .02 cents

Very possibly will kill your computer. I did something similar (straight pipes) on a truck I had awhile back, and the lack of backpressure destroyed my computer. Had to get it replaced, which wasn't cheap. Don't do it....
