Default So I finally got a new tranny

So my poor transmission on my sc400 went out after 181K and since I'm the 8th owner I can only imagine the driving style throughout it's 16 years. Any ways after 3K its right as rain with all new steels and clutches. As well as new rubber on the drive line connections that where falling apart. The accelerator is like velvet now you cant even feel when the car shifts. Smooth and soo much faster. I haven't red lined the car yett but after it breaks in I can't wait. So if any one has been thinking about replacing there transmission do it you won't regret it.

******UPDATE*******

Ok guys I put 200 miles on it before I got on it. I just wanted to make shure everything got broke in before I tried it out. I'm currently at 650 miles on it. I just did a drive to the bay area and just got back it's 1 am

Wow so much faster now it really pulls and the shifts are still buttery soft. When you put it on cruise control the transmission actually slows down the car. Even on the steepest grades it kept the same speed. You can feel it but its not obtrusive. Anyways, I got 23-24 miles to the gallon and made the trip on one tank of gas (550miles) with some left over. Way better then the 12-15 I was getting before. I think my city has gone up to 18-19 from 8-10. So in all I'm very pleased. Also the power button actually works now too. You can tell the transmission is more eager to downshift and hold the gear to red line. Also I think I would have gotten even better gas millage but I was never under 75-80 ........California drivers anyways just wanted to share.

So did you get a new transmission or had yours rebuilt? Mine was starting to crap out 2-3 months after I got the car, and mine's a 99 SC3 with 90k miles. Got a new torque converter, clutches, and solenoids and the car is running A LOT better than before.

Either way, great to hear that your cars running great.

I have got 158K on the clock, and no problems yet. I do have a clunk sound when the car is cold, going from whatever speed to 0. It only does it once, so no concerns yet from me.
