Replacement/modified ECU's -

I see tons of these on sale on Ebay. Some make outlandish claims of 40hp gained, others make more realistic claims of 7-11 hp gained and a little better mileage or more free revving, etc.

Anyone ever installed one of these? It seems like the mods that make some sense on other cars don't make as much sense on SC's so I wanted to see what people think about these ECU mods. Is everyone here still running their stock ECU?

I wouldn't waste my time on those ECUs.

Yes they are using the stock Ecu unless they have a Boosted SC and went with EMS.
If u need more power out of the SC you need FI.

i think all of those are "quick" mods that people used to do back in the day.. like messing with the thermostat signal and the air temp signal and such.
I don't think there will be much power to gain like that on a 2jz. in stock form it runs pretty darn strong.. and usually with those mods you are just trading power in one rpm range for less in another.

get yourself a intake(bfi) and exhaust if you want to stay n/a. the ecu will adjust itself.

I'm gonna do BFI after brakes. Exhaust maybe after interior. Boost maybe in a year or so.
