Loose Automatic shifter, what's the problem?
I'm not sure if this is a common problem on automatic sc300s but I have seen this before on other sc:sad:. Does anyone here knows what can I do to fix this. any info will help . thanks in advance

Loose how? Does it cause a rattle sound or is it just loose to the touch? If it's loose to the touch, you can pull down the sleeve bellow the leather on the shift knob. You will see 2 screws that you can tighten.
If it's just a rattling sound that makes you think it is loose, then I don't believe there is anything you can do about that. I haven't been able to find a solution to that. |

the rattling auto shifter is a common annoyance with the pre-gated auto shifter..you can try using somekind of aftermarket auto shift knob, or convert to the gated shifter assembly..other than that, not much you can do about it except hold it with one hand while driving and try not to feel odd holding the obscene shaped shifter

I had the same problem with my auto shifter in my MKIII supra. The cause was worn out (decayed and gone) bushings around the bolt the shifter pivots on. $13 bucks from Toyota and it fixed the problem. You have to remove the whole shifter assembly, pull the rubber boot off the bottom and you'll see where the problem is, granted it is anything like the shifter in the supra. My 98 SC3 has a gated shifter, so no experience yet. My friend has a 92 SC4 and his shakes. We may tackle that in the future. |

wow fail.
The picture says it must be in park, yet the shifter is clearly in drive. :egads: |
