Can't bleed power steering
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just replaced a leaking power steering pump and bad rack on a 95 SC400. In the process I flushed the system, cleaned the solenoid screen, added a filter and removed/disassembled the reservoir to properly clean the internal filter. The filters were both nearly clogged. After everything was completed I attempted to bleed the system. For some reason I cannot seem to get all of the air out. I have cycled the wheels lock to lock several times on several different occasions to no avail. I don't have any leaks in the system that I can see. Could the reservoir allow the pump to suck in air? I am wondering if I did not get a good seal when I re-attached the lid onto the reservoir body. Does anyone know if that can cause the pump to suck in air? Thanks for all the help. |
It won't suck air from the resivore unless the level is too low, most people leave the lid off, jack frnt. wheels up & turn lock to lock a few times keeping resv. full, then it's done. You could have a loose connection on the suction (inlet) line/hose, can get air there.
