this is a very bad example of how bright or actually not bright it is. when you take a pic that close of something that dark or black your camera exposes it for that to make it look bright... if you look at the dash and background you can clearly see that it is completely blown out because it metered the cluster and exposed that... try metering the background and daylight then take a pic of the cluster. i bet youll barely see it
again you say it looks spotty... its like this because the metering is a bit over exposed causing flare in the numbers... both of these are bad examples of how they actually look... i remember reading somewhere that OLT actually tried to properly expose the pics so people get to see how they really look
i have done this (cheap 3 head leds) when i was looking for a cluster to redo and did it to the current one to see how it is...
it sucks... in bright day light it was VERY dim. at night it was ok... very spotty though
not bad for like 20 bucks but the ccfl mod is tons better. thats what i have now and its great and bright

the top pic with the 300k cluster, it seems the engine is running hot 
, i never seen it higher than where it suppose to be sorry for off topic thread.
In topic, I did the LED conversion myself, and it is correct there will be spots but hey, it only cost like $20 to do. I was satisfy with the results i got.

hey man the only thing thats important here is if you like it. it looks great from here, but hey, if you wanna spend 186 more dollars to get your "4" in your tach, and your 60mph a taddddddd dimmer, go for it. otherwise it looks great.

I know exactly what you mean... The pic may show spots, bu you definitely cannot see it with your naked eye.
I did led on mine too, and in a pic, there is a small spot that shows some hotspot but day or night, my eyes cannot tell and I got 20/20 =)
