Default Does your engine temperature ever fluctuate slightly?

I've noticed in my 1996 SC400 that the temperature needle is always in the dead center, but it tends to go just a little higher than the middle most of the time.

How does the temperature of your car act sometimes? Same as mine?

You don't live near large hills do you? Of course not, you live in Florida. Had you lived anywhere else in the world except Florida you'd know all cars temps change all the time.

With my 2jz-ge, it never moved from the middle, but with my 1jz, it stays slightly above, but then on the highway it goes to center.

My last car was a 1999 Honda Accord V6 and the temperature needle on that thing was ROCK SOLID. It would go up to running temperature and STAY THERE. That's just MY experience.

Of course it was a v6. I could regulate the temp of a v6 with a bottle of gatorade. It also didn't have a hydraulic fan.

Bottle of gatorade... That's a good one. I still don't see your point. The radiator on the Honda was nowhere near the massive size that the Lexus has.

I've never had a problem with my 97 30. With my 91 31 though it'd take at least 30 minutes to warm up, then driving along it'd drop in temp and slowly creep up just above the half mark with scary BHG afterthoughts (if you've owned a 7M you'll know what I mean lol). Turned out to be a troubled thermostat. After I had it changed it's never played up since.

The temp gauge on my SC4 can't seem to 1 tick mark over "C". I'm thinking I need a thermostat, at least its a cheap fix.

Ever since I installed my aluminum radiator, my needle fluctuates a lot. Its what you get when you have a fan that is always on. When its cool outside to takes forever to warm up, then drops drastically when you move.

My fix? Install electric fans on a temperature relay so its more consistent (unless its really cold!)
