Default Live and learn i guess...

hey everyone i decided i was sick of my 93 tails so i modded them a bit. i bought black Tint spray from the local custom shop...i'll re-do them again tomorrow but the temp in my town is 57 degrees, and the bottle says 60 degrees or more...but whatever, the black is great in some places but developed a white hazy clearish color over the other half.

but worse, i decided to do the same thing to the amber side markers....and the paint ran down the side and stained the bumper in a downward streak its not big, its like 4 inches or so down and a cm wide. just a line. i tried paint thinner and nothin happened....guess its time to take it to the body shop unless someone here has abetter idea

2000, 3000 and 4000 grit sandpaper...sand with the 2k grit till the black paint is gone, then wet sand with the 3k and 4k then buff with wax and that should keep your paint looking new and remove the unwanted string of paint.

same for the tails, wet sand what you sprayed on with 3k and 4k and it will fix the hazy area.

hmm..nope i guess not. i went to tint the amber sidemarkers and it started streaking and a streak made it through the newspaper and down the front bumper. so far i've tried to use paint thinner with a newspaper and buff it...nothing happened. then i applied zymol cleaner wax to the area and let it get nice and dry then buffed it with a t-shirt and the black streak wasn't even phased. = [

well i would like to let you know how productive of a night i had in the rain tonight... = ]

i went to the store and they only had 2k grit... so i had to work with what they had. and i got back and wet the sandpaper, plus it was DOWN POURING. and went over the areas and guess what.....paint is GONE.

the black streak is completely gone, and all thats left is a bit of a "flat" blue zone from where i sanded which i obviously can't do anything about in the rain. so tomorrow i'll buy some buffing compound and go over those areas and bring the shine back. thank you very much turbodremz and everyone else who chimed in. this is why i love this forum. oh and also, while i was at it with the rain and light sandpaper, i figured i'd give my headlights a treatment = ] so now i'll have OEM clear headlights, and no more fugly black streaks of paint on the bumper. i'll post pics tomorrow of my finished product!

glad to hear..try going to a store that sells auto paint products if you can find the rest of the sand paper grits. all that needs to be done now is buffing on the area..and yes, be sure to remove parts if possible when painting/dying/modifying!

keep us posted, and let us know if you have anymore questions.
