I will Post a picture of the one I have later

SO you basically got the plugs from the 97+ cluster wire harness and by color matching you solder them into the 92-96 wire harness and still leaving the original plugs in did i understand you correct ??? This sounds very interesting if true

I did the conversion on my 92 sc ..took about 30 mins to remove / install.. It looks 100 times better than the older cluster imo.

Gated shifter cars do have gated shifter patterns on the dash.
5 speed auto cars have 5 indicator lights on the dash.

I don't get whats supossed to look better?
the extra lcd screens? everything else looks identical.

the only thing usefull from a 98+ is the gated shifter and the steering wheel IMO.

You have to see the cluster lit up in person to see the big difference between the old clusters and the new ones.

From what I've found the clusters are the same from 97+.

Since the 98+ sc400 is a 5 speed auto and the gated shifter they should have a gated looking shift indicator on the dash. But I'm not certain of that. If it does, the only downside would be it having a 5 speeds worth of indicator lights on the dash.

So then why not use a 98-99 sc300, they still have a 4 speed indicator, BUT...
You can't use a sc300 cluster with a sc400 because the tach will give false readings.

So seems like if you have a sc400, you're going to want a 97 cluster from an sc400.

I did this in my 92 sc back in may.Aliga asked me to post a thread about it but i never got around to it.I got the cluster and wiring harness for him.Only thing i wish it had was outside temp working. But i guess since my car is a 92 it didn't come with that sensor? But what would be cool is if you could hook up a sensor to get oil pressure to work where the outside temp was.
