Hey All,

So I am still continuing on my quest to make my SC handle less crapily. So far here is what I have done:

-New F-LCAs with supra bushings
-New tie rod ends
-New Steering rack bushings
-New Sway bar links F+R

for the most part, the car handles OK - the rear end is a bit squirrelly, but I think I am stuck with that until I opt to replace the bushings back there.

The problem I am having now is a nice loud clunk from the front driver's side wheel well. It clunks whenever:

-I reverse and turn out of my garage in the morning
-When I brake hard

I know its not the brake pads sliding about in their calipers because I just replaced the front calipers and hardware. The clunk was there before and after.

So what's the likely culprit? Sway bar bushings? Upper control arms? strut mounts?

I was getting a similar clunk. A couple things to look at:
1 - Ride height is too low and the sway bar end links are hitting the LCA when the vechicle flexes during braking, steering, or bumps.
2 - The bolts on the sway bar end links are loose or not to spec causing the sway bar to pop into place during flex.

or your struts is toast or the pillowball mount is double check you 3 mounting bolts also your camber caster ajuster might be loose

 

I am betting its the struts, get the Tokico blues with new mounts, and call it the day. I had the same problem. Mine was the rear, and it was so wore out, it wouldnt come back out on its own. I could also push it in with my hands. JMO

 

or you can double check and make sure that your subframe is properly torqued down. there's 2 nuts and 3 bolts per side. it's in the lexus service manual listed as a maintenance procedure too. search for thread.

 

I'm having the same problem too and took the car back to the mechanic who fitted the front lower bushes for me.

Turned out the nuts wasnt torqued down properly.

Now is all quiet and no nosie!
