Default Alternator not charging?

bought a new alternator...applied volt meter to battery. volt meter reads 12.5 volts. rev the engine up, volt meter still reads 12.5 volts.

bought alternator to kragen to be tested, their test shows that the alternator is outputing the required 13-14 volts it should be putting out.

daily driving my car is killing the battery and if i shut my car off the battery doesn't have enough juice to start the car.

what could be the issue? i already brought my battery to kragen and they charged it and said its perfectly fine. they also load tested the battery.

I would say to check the harness that goes into the alternator. Had the same problem and found out that I had two wires going into the harness when it was supposed to be 3. They are very small gauge wires and it looks like it don't take much to rip one out. If it is that then there's a place online where you can order a new plug with better wires.

If the harness is fine then you can check the voltage on the postive terminal of the alternator while the engine is off. It should read the same as the battery. That way you can know there's no breaks in the cable.

I had this problem and it was the big 80amp or 120amp (can't remember how big it was) fuse. The one under the hood that is screwed in.
Sorry for the lame description!! I just have trouble remembering small stuff like that. If I'm right I think it was white too

Either you have a cut in the harness or the power or ground points could have corrsion on them. The 150 mega amp fuse it is right next to the 2 60 mega amp fuses. Its in the engine bay on the drivers side. See if the fuse burned up. There are screws holding it in place your going to have to take the screws holding the fuse panel together off the car. Then you take the box apart and get to the screws. Search for it man there are over 20 links for charging system issues.
