I don't think a lot of people ever knew that. I always thought it was a conversion too, but my friend asked John if they could use his car as a booth car at Formula D one year, and that was how I found out it was an original 5 speed car. A few years after that, when the shell was put up for sale I ran the VIN and it checked out as a 1 of 120 car.

I found the VIN JT8CD32Z7V1000382, last known location was Henderson Nevada in September 2014. Chassis only, no drive train at all. If you google the VIN, the listing for the shell will come up.

Here is a table I lifted from Wikipedia that can be informative . Looks like this info is based on Calendar Year. The annotations in blue are references from which the editors lifted the numbers. Looks like they have lumped the 1991 production with the 1992 that is why the number of production is a lot bigger than sales and technically the Lexus SC model started in 1992. So is the 120 number only for the 1997 calendar year manufactured vehicles ? I still don't know ! Hope one day we will find a more credible source and will find out .

The thing is until we get to know the new owner , the name of the old owner stays on the list. And even worst is if the new owner is not a forum member or even if he is and we are never told then no way for us to know who owns it now.

I know some on the list that have already been sold and the name listed are not anymore the current owners.
