Default DIY- How to fix leather seat (Side Piece)

I have been wanting to replace the big cracks on both sides of the seats, but never could figure out how to repair it until yesterday. When I had the seats out I wanted to let everyone know how easy it was to remove the whole side trim piece around the seat. I have never read anywhere on here about how to repair it or anybody who posted how they removed the trim piece. So here goes. THIS DIY IS ONLY FOR REMOVAL AND REPAIR OF THE CRACKED ABS PLASTIC, NOT THE RECOVERING PROCESS!

Remove the seats by removing the plastic caps. There are 4 of them for both seats, but a total of 5 (14mm) bolts. Remove these 5 bolts. Lastly, unplug the plastic connector under the seat. Once the seats are out, turn them on their back, where the bottom part is facing up. On the driver front side of the seat, there are 3 small phillips head screws. Remove them. Next, pop off the power slide bar, and the power back adjustment bar. Do this with a small screwdriver and on the ends of the bars. Gently pull the back side of the seat out, this is where the handle is, and slide a small flat head screwdriver in under the locking pin that holds down the handle. Slide this out, then remove the handle. This will clear the plastic piece. Once this is out of the way, unplug, by sliding the power lumbar switch out. Once this is disconnected, there are 2 small phillips screws holding the switch in place. Remove them, if neccassary. This is all that you will need to do for the driver seat.

For the passenger side seat, Remove the seat, by the 5 bolts. Unplug it. Remove the same 3 screws. Remove the power slide button, and back control. Remove the pin for the handle. Remove handle. Slide piece off.

I used ABS apoxy to fix and repair the back of it where it was cracked. I also used some thin pieces of aluminum to support this from happening again. You have to use pieces of about 3-4 inches in some places, due to the support of the original plastic pieces. You will see once you have it removed. I will have these side pieces taken to a leather shop to have recovered. I dont know how to do that. If someone knows how, please post a DIY.

Again this DIY is for ONLY the removal of the plastic side trim pieces and repair of the cracked ABS plastic on the underside.

Below is the link from this forum for the side cracked piece that seems everyone has! Well at least mine. I will post more pix of the trim piece
tomorrow or next day.

To remove the backrest handle, you have to remove a circular pin behind the trim. A small flathead should be able to do the job.

Thats exactly it. Use a small flat head screwdriver in there. Maybe kinda tight, due to be problaly never been off there before. You ought to have seen all the dust, dirt, and crap around the seat, once removed.

I hate that I cant post pix right now for more details, due to me being at work.
