Default sc400 1uz fe engine

I water locked my car today and turned over the car... i might have to buy a new engine or rebuild it.. my auto shop says its probably totaled and a 1uz engine would cost 8-9k is that accurate? for 8-9k i might as well go find another sc400 in the paper or at carmax and see what condition they are in and haggle prices... i havent brought the car to the shop yet for the estimate or see if there is something else we can do so we don't have to rebuild it but AAA is being slow due to all the cars getting flooded out...

You can buy a 1uz longblock for ~600 bucks. 8 to 9k seems like they're trying to take you in the pooper. Another member on here flooded out his IS-F in Houston :|

They def. aren't that much. Why don't you get the water out of the engine?

600 bucks? thats awesome thanks.. i'm not sure but i think he was including the price for labor for the rebuild or putting the new engine in... i saw someone on here post that a 1uz could be found for 25.-3k... and i really love my car and lucked out getting it for a first.... don't want to drive anything else and I planned on driving my sc through college

forgot to ask, what year? if it's an early 1uz, they're cheap. the VVT-i ones fetch a premium though...

Look around, I bet you land one around 1K. Just thank goodness you aren't trying to buy a 2JZ-GTE because those are much more expensive.

This would be a perfect time to do a SUPRA SWAP if you ever planned on it.
