Default Any Ideas?

I was replacing the burned out fog light bulb yesterday on my SC, and noticed theres alot of room inside this right front fender for a direct flow of cold air. The air would be almost perfectly straight air flow to the air filter. I have already done the BFI, using the the help of several write ups and posts, using the cutout of the airbox, and using the front plastic part as a RAM air type induction system under the headlight. Love the way it sounds, but would this be a better idea, or bad? Could I still use the BFI setup? Whats your thoughts about the entry of water, etc, or just keep what I have? I would build something out of aluminum and seal it off somehow. Has anyone ever tested this?

the reason why there's a lot of room is because that's where the sidemount intercooler on the soarer goes.

I hate to be a newb but what does BFI stand for? I thought it was basic forced induction but that wouldnt make sense in this context.

For us i think BFI = Big flow intake, meaning we mod our airbox to get more air into our engines.

I know one member one here using some piping from a dryer i think to direct air to his box. He placed it in the duct next to the foglight, he had a '97+ kit thought

Yeah... I have seen that guys mod....with the dryer hose... I thought BFI meant Big Freaking Intake? Anyway, I may try and tackle this project this weekend, depending on how many responses, good or bad, I get... I thought for sure someone has tried this already, because its a straight shot into the intake....

I'm getting the Ebay kit for the BFI. Made by a fellow SC owner and it includes pre-cut plastic pieces to make it look like stock to most people, except those who own an SC. I'll post progress pics as he wants to see how it goes too.

I actually have talked with him through email.. I think he sales that kit for around 80.00 and lives in Georgia? He says it does a great job. I wanted to know if my idea was better, instead of going under headlight, and has to make all those bends.. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Intakes on na cars are basically snake oil. Unless your car come with a with restrictive intake(scs dont) all your gonna get is more noise, if your lucky.

I would much rather use 80 bucks on a hid kit or save up for some hypercoils.

The only way to make an NA engine fast is the expensive way. Efficiency = win.

There are roller bearing engines people have built eliminating the bushings and they are phenomenal. (not in the SC world)

i don't think you'll get much more out of it...unless you're an expert on aerodynamics and can make a ram-air intake. that would be sick
