I just got my 94 SC300 and am interested in a possible modification/upgrade to the existing stock stereo w/CD changer. A few questions please.
1. Where is the amp located? In the trunk, is it easy to get to?
2. Is the subwoofer easy to get to? What is the size? If I want to upgrade, are there any suggestions on what to get.
3. The stereo seems pretty good, what upgades to the speakers would be recommended?
4. Are the door and deck speakers all 4-1/2" size?
5. How does one modify the tweeter on the door-how do you take the cover off to get to the tweeter?
6. What is the power of the amp. I do not play the vol. really loud-is the power adequate for any upgrades?
7. Is there any info on this thread regarding this topic?
Thanks, Rick

280w system?
in that case check next to the passenger side rear speaker. Is there a pioneer component next to it? If not then I'd just pull the speakers, head unit & CD/Amp in the trunk. Otherwise there may, but I doubt it, be other modules like the component next to the speaker throughout the car. Does anyone else know?

1. There is one amp located under the cd changer in the trunk and another amp for the sub located next to the sub.
2. You should be able to access the rear speakers below the rear deck. Remove the two clips in the top of the rear deck. Pull the belt guides forward. Then pull the top of the rear deck forward. That should do it.
3. If you dont have the Nak system then you have the Pioneer. The pioneer has an 8" sub without the cd changer and a 10" sub with the cd changer.
4. The Pioneer system is rated at 210 watts
5. You will have to remove the door covers to access any of the door speakers.
Sorry but the manual does not specify the speaker sizes

Stereo in the Coupe
Here is what I know from when I played around with my system in my old '95 SC300.
1) Door speakers and deck speaers are all 4 1/2" speakers and are identical. However, the front ones are mounted in a sealed box that conforms to the door. Actually, it is pretty impressive to see what Lexus did.
2) Door speakers SUCK to remove! The door trim is fragile so don't be like me and "muscle-*****" the thing and break it.
3) If you have the Premium (PIONEER) system, the sub amp is on the deck. With the Nak system, the amp is below the CD changer.
4) To get to the rear speakers, you must remove the back seat. This sounds more painful than it really is...but is does take about 20 minutes. If you want the instructions out of the manual, I can send them to you.
5) The tweeters in the door can take alot of juice and are placed perfectly. I would hold off messing with them unless you are really getting serious.
Thats about all I know.
