Sheesh, I was always against using SEM sprays and dies with my "Keep it real" mentality. But damn, that looks great! I'm interested in the longevity of the paint though. How well does it hold up to dings/scratches? You planning on changing out the beige trim pieces, e.g. seatbelts, handles, etc.?

I'd suggest wrapping the Focal grill with the same cloth you used on the L/R speakers. It looks very out of place. How about getting another L/R grill and using it in the center. That would be a clean good look.

Also, I'd paint the front speaker grills black before wrapping. Just my 2cents.

Wait till you see the headliner!

I was worried about the exact same thing as you are. Here's my conclusion. Everything comes down to preparation and taking your time. I decided to use an adhesion promoter, this helps the paint greatly to stick to the surface. Another thing I did that I think helped out alot was the amount of thin coats I did. I did a total of around 8 or so, maybe more. I sprayed like you would paint a car, moving left to right never stopping in a continuous motion. I also let all these parts sit for about a week in my shed which acts like an "oven" at around 90* in the day. I think this helped out greatly cause heres what I did to test it. Last night before I actually installed this stuff, I said to mysdlf, lets see how this holds up to a real life situation. So I took my fingernail and scratched a portion that was behind another panel that wouldnt show. Nothing, no scratch...it stayed black. I think with time it will get even better.

As far as the grills, the rear grils are in fact stock, just painted again with SEM. Pictures truly doesnt do them justice as they match pretty well. The center grill was a port and I think looks awesome, but to each his own. Having another grill in the center matching I think would look like weird. I was originally planning to do it just like u said, but i decided otherwise and Im glad I did.

Yeah the only two parts I worry about on the whole car are the center console armrest and on the door panel handle/armrest. Its already getting hot over here so ill be able to tell if it gonne hold up real soon.

I've been kicking this idea around the last few weeks. My tan interior is looking dated and faded and cracked. This could add some new life.

The biggest problem for me is the faded poop brown... I'm sick of lookin' at it.

I'd buy a set of black front belts and a center console lid as they're super high wear items. but as always it depends on cost.

Is this SEM stuff a true paint or a dye?

 

SEM is not a dye, its a paint. And im already thinking about wrapping my center console lid with some more suede

too many people just painting their interior, do it right, get the real thing, the parts the rubs will come off.. Did it on a friends car and parts of it came off already.
