Default Igniton not working

Car is a 1991 uzz31 v8 limited I've only owned it for a month 1/2

Today was parking the car on the driveway, I turned the key to off/lock and pulled the key out as you do, but then realised I wanted to move the car to a new position so I quickly put the key back into the ignition (While I was doing this the steering wheel was still moving in auto tilt away?)

It all happened so fast but from what I can remember during the process of trying to turn the car back on the steering wheel was auto tilting in & out/up & down. I guess I was too impatient & had the key on the wrong angle causing the auto tilt sensor to have a spasm resulting in my problem.

Now all I can do is put the key in so the Auto tilt activates but that is all no Acc/on/start the key still works fine on the doors/valet so I guess I've broken something inside the ignition itself.

I read somewhere that disconnecting the battery for 10min? or 30 seconds? can help with some problems but my alarm keeps going off!

Maybe i've blown some type of fuse? should I try wd40? or just buy a new ignition?

Any suggestions?

I'm really loving the car but I've had some bad luck so far, seems to be one problem after another :-(

so, the key doesn't turn at all???

could be the ignition definitely... don't think there is anything electronic that will cause that to happen... personally, I would keep trying to insert the key and turn... might just be a pin in the lock cylinder that is stuck... to avoid wearing out the steering wheel whilst doing this, I would turn off the auto feature on the side of the steering wheel...

if all else fails, replace the ignition (really, the lock cylinder)
