thinking of going single exit..pro's/con's?

right now I am running dual exit exhaust on my SC3, 3'' pipe from the cat back, no resonators. I am considering cutting out the "Y" pipe and going single, possibly with a resonator. Car is completely stock except for BFI..any pro's or con's I should be concerned about going single with 3'' pipe? I know some low end torque has been lost, but not a major problem for me.

anyone want to share some experiences/insight? :uh:

If you're talking about just power, the amount gained or lost from just going single is next to nothing. In terms of looks, there are people who prefer single, and some who prefer dual. Its all up to you.

exactly what I needed to know. didnt think there would be any major difference. and I like the dual look, but considering the single exit..now just need to decide which side if I do go single.

thanks for the reply OneJay

Turbodremz: if you are considering going single would you be interested in working something out with me for your current duals?

turbodremz Jan 2, 2009 11:34 PM

depends on what you have..do you mean a cash offer or trade? cause the exhaust i have on now wasnt cheap, and i was just going to delete the "Y" pipe and make it straight..

If you're just going to chop off one side, I think you may need a bigger muffler to complete the look. To me, the only single exit exhausts that look good on the SC's are angled with ~4.5 inch tip. It looks like yours are about the same size as mine (4 inch) and imo won't look so good with just one.

i was going to go with the HKS Hi power TI..i'm still debating it though, cause i do like the dual exhaust, just thinking of something new

My buddy has that muffler on his SC. Looks and sounds pretty good.

i had one on my old s13, and i loved it..but, bad drift due to driver error ripped it off

I love the single exhaust but not so much on the SC i think dual fits the SC more like the 5zigens. But for every other car i wouldnt get duals on them.. my favorite singles are HKS Hi TI carbon exhaust with the burnt tip so sexy

I still think that 3inch is too big....are you planning on boosting later?

turbodremz Jan 3, 2009 01:22 AM

yes i am planning on boosting eventually..but the 3'' seems to flow very well, and i didnt feel much loss in low end power at all once it was installed.

A single exit system will weigh less.

turbodremz Jan 3, 2009 11:17 AM

didnt even think about that..good point.

if we're single how big should the piping be? i have 2.5 right now...i'm thinking about redoing it and going 3 inch...

Peace out
