Grey Interior pieces dye'd black?
 

Im thinking of dye'ing some of my grey interior pieces black.But before i do it,does anyone have any pics of grey interior pieces dye'd black??

Are you talking about trim pieces or the entire dash? What kind of product are you planning on using? Duplicolor makes a Gloss Black, and Flat Black vinyl dye, which is basically spray paint. The problem with the stuff is that it scratches very easily. I also see you're from FL like me. I know for a fact that without a solid clear coat, the vinyl dye paint will fade, crack, and peal off. You may be better off sourcing some black bits and just buying them rather than gaffing up a factory part. Just my .02

I don't know why but this is the only pic I have of my old interior. As you can see the glovebox and some other bits are dyed black.

I don't know man, finding black interior pieces is a PITA, and ultimately very costly. I've had much success with dyeing my interior parts black. It's been looking good since January. The best advice I can give you when you dye your stuff is to put on a lot of clear coat and really seal that paint in good. All the parts that I dyed that I took my time to clear coat it a lot looks very good and I've had no problems with them. Also, make sure you clean and degrease the stuff you're painting. If you don't, flaking will occur. Definitely take your time doing each piece by piece, it'll be well worth it in the long run.

The only reason I suggested sourcing factory black stuff was so that should the painting process go the way of rubbish a perfectly fine factory piece wouldn't be ruined. I did suggest to the thread author off the boards that a good clear coat would be the best way to lock the paint in though. So, we're on the same page here. :D

It is a Nardi wheel, had it for about 6 years, very pleased....

Ah it looks very very comfortable. Was it something Nardi made for Lexus/Toyota as it were? They did similar stints for Subaru. Just curious but how much did that piece of kit cost you?

That was a pretty hot steering wheel and interior, I like th medium grey and black.

I don't want to threadjack, but what are you planning to use to dye your interior pieces? I'd like to do a few pieces black also.

Not that I know, of, I bought the wheel from a retailer after the car came from Japan. The wheel that was in there was quite shabby. It cost me $265 Australian.

Respraying is not hard guys, takes about a weekend to do it properly. I cleaned the vinyl really well, let it dry, applied primer and then multiple light coats of vinyl paint. I have had NO problems with it scratching or wearing off.

I have dyed my whole interior black with the sem products and i really dont like it, it does scratch, and the parts do stick together.... the panels that do touch. Yes i did follow the directions and removed dash and all....In clearwater there is a junk yard with 2 full black interiors they want 2100.00 for everything....200.00 in paint or 2K in interior

I would still save the money and just buy the interior pieces.
