Default Simple tranny question for yall

I have a 930 sc400, the auto kills me and i would love nothing more than a stick attached to the v8. I would love the 6speed, but ill settle with a 5 speed. SO here is my delima, save and wait a while for a good r154 deal or, pick up a w58. I met this guy selling some supra parts and is selling the w58 to me with all its goodies for 100 O.B.O. Should i jump on this and work with that or wait? I dont plan on turbo, or supercharging any time soon. Maybe in like a year or 2, so i thought get it, do a swap. save for the 6 speed or a rebuilt r154 then just swap the trannies out and pay if fwd with the w58. Any thoughts?

The w58 should work fine with the v8. I think that's what most of the australian guys use.

i would jump on it now, having the pedals and master cylinder in will be beneficial if you decide to go with another type of transmission.

So i called the guy and he said 100 bucks. It has the w58 tranny, the bellhousing and the flywheel and clutch. Im pretty sure if i remember correctly that the clutch and flywheel are useless to me. I got him down to 80$ so far. If i pick it up then i would only need an adapter bell housing, a clutch assembly and slave and what else? a tranny comp from an sc300???

if the trans is from a mk3 supra then that bellhousing is useless on a 2jz. the w58 has to be from a mk4 supra.

Haha he is asking where it is coming FROM! I know you don't think that sc400 ever had stick. It matters where its from cause the bellhousing is different.

MK3 supra bellhousings will not bolt on to the ...er wait.. you have an sc400. I think you need an adapter plate? I'm not really sure on this, but they have one for a JZ bellhousing if you do need it.

So go for the bellhousing that fits your engine! I.E. a bellhousing from a supra/sc300

get it, if you can't use it, you can sell it for more, 80 is a really good deal.

thats shat i thought he meant at first but either way no matter which bell housing it comes with is useless to me. I was just saying what it comes with. I forget the company (i have it book marked) but they make a bell housing that bolts to the w58 that makes it bolt up to the 1uzfe. its 350$ and the performance flywheel/clutch kit is 400$. Im figuring all in all would cost me less than a grand to do it! That sound right or do you guys think im missing something other than the obvious parts. Oh yeah anyone ever done it and wanna help?
